Internship Opportunities

Farm Internship

The Farm Internship will provide an opportunity to work with this progressive agricultural operation. A long-term interest in farm or ranch management is preferred.

This is an excellent paid internship opportunity for students to receive hands-on training in farming and farm management.  Must be currently enrolled as a student at a college or university to be considered.

Interns may be involved with seasonal tasks, including planting, cultivating, pivot irrigation, and haying operations. Interns may also get exposure to crop scouting. All interns will receive an introduction to farm management and farm financial management. Assume other duties as assigned.

Position available near York, Nebraska.

 

Sales Intern

The Sales Intern will gain valuable experience within a progressive beef operation. This paid internship will provide experience in all aspects of marketing, sales, and distribution of its all natural Certified Piedmontese beef products including:

- Identify and analyze niche beef markets and consumer demand.

- Research and initiate contact with potential customers, including high-end restaurants, and retailers in locations around the Nation.

- Build relationships with current customers, through selling Certified Piedmontese by Great Plains Beef.

- Process orders, customer service, and collections.

- Assist in coordinating the distribution and inventory management of Great Plains Beef Products.

This is an excellent paid opportunity for students to receive hands-on training in sales and beef brand management. The intern must be proficient in use of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Prefer junior/senior/ graduate level.  Assume other duties as assigned.

Positions available in Lincoln, Nebraska.

 

Calving Internship

The Calving Internship will provide an opportunity to work with this progressive livestock operation. This position requires a willingness to work with other ranch interns and managers in a complete unit. Long-term interest in ranch management is preferred.

This is an excellent paid internship opportunity for students to receive hands-on training in ranching and ranch management. Housing and utilities are also provided for opportunities in the Nebraska Sandhills. Must be currently enrolled as a student at a college or university to be considered.

Interns that work during the spring and/or summer calving seasons, may be involved with cow/calf herd management, heifer development, maternal herd management, terminal herd management, and feedlot/backgrounding yard operations. Interns may also assist with electronic identification, artificial insemination, and records management. All interns will receive an introduction to range management. In addition, the internship may include seasonal tasks, such as pivot irrigating and meadow haying operations in the summer. Assume other duties as assigned.

Cattle Records Management Intern

The Cattle Records Management Intern will gain experience with this progressive livestock operation.  This paid, part-time position requires willingness to work with managers of Lone Creek Cattle Company in development and recording of herd data for this integrated beef production company.  Long-term interest in agriculture is a must. 

This is an excellent paid opportunity for students to receive hands-on training in ranch management and records management.  The intern must be proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and database management software.  Prefer junior/senior level student with a background in ranching/feedlot industry.  

The intern will work with recording and managing of data from a terminal cow herd operation, a feedlot/backgrounding operation, and maternal cow herd/heifer development.   The Cattle Records Management Intern will also receive an introduction to Lone Creek Cattle Company's bull lease program.  Assume other duties as assigned.

Ranch Internship

The Ranch Internship will provide an opportunity to work with this progressive livestock operation at ranches in the Nebraska Sandhills. This position requires a willingness to work with other ranch interns and managers in a complete unit. Long-term interest in ranching is preferred.

Web Development Intern

The Web Development Intern will work on websites and mobile applications for Lone Creek Cattle Company and Great Plains Beef, including the Certified Piedmontese website.  The Web Development Intern will work on gathering requirements, designing, coding and modifying of content management systems and mobile applications that are user friendly and visually appealing.  

The Web Development Intern will work with a wide variety of web-based technologies.  This is an excellent opportunity to work as part of a dynamic team in a paid internship opportunity.  Assume other duties as assigned.
